Lutherans believe that Marriage is a gift of God, designed to reflect God's own relationship with the world: the acceptance and empowering of the other as a unique and valuable being, faithful commitment to the relationship, and willingness to offer patience and forgiveness in difficult circumstances.
The Lutheran marriage ceremony is set within the context of a service of worship involving thanksgiving, listening to God's Word, prayer and blessing. As guests of our congregation, those who request the use of the church for weddings are asked to respect our beliefs and are invited to share as fully as they are able in the life of the congregation.
Marriage is a magnificent setting for conveying God's ideal of love rooted in acceptance and forgiveness but it is not without its difficulties. We believe that couples entering marriage need to prepare together for the challenges they will face and therefore require three sessions of premarital counseling with the Pastor at Christ Church.
To schedule a wedding at Christ Church, contact the Church Office and request a copy of our Wedding Brochure, which will provide specific details and information concerning: Scheduling Your Wedding, Premarital Counseling, the Wedding Service, Wedding Music, Photographers, Wedding Programs, Flowers, and on-site Receptions.
The church seats 175 people.
While it is important to reserve the date early, we cannot make reservations more than one year in advance.
We do not schedule weddings on Sundays, during the eight days before Easter, or Christmas, or when the congregation has scheduled a major event.
The Senior Pastor, or his designee, presides at Christ Church weddings. Clergy of other denominations may serve as assisting ministers.
All music played or sung at the wedding service must be consistent with the service of worship.
All music must be arranged through and with the approval of Christ Churchís Minister of Music.
